HEIRLOOM. This brilliant red-orange, teardrop-shaped squash is a traditional vegetable from Japan. “Kuri” means chestnut in Japanese, a reference to the delicious nutty flavor of its deep orange, smooth textured flesh. Great roasted, or in soups or pies. Fruits grow to about 4 to 6 lbs on vining plants. Sometimes called Hokkaido Pumpkin, or Baby Red Hubbard.
