Description
Brassica juncea
HEIRLOOM. Stewarded by Jerome Feaster, whose family has grown this variety for nearly 100 years on the same farm near Shiloh in rural Marion County, Florida. Mr. Feaster donated seeds to Seed Savers Exchange for preservation, and we are happy to also now offer this delicious, spicy variety. Large, slightly crinkled leaves will grow up to 2′ long and are a lovely, soft green color. Nice and spicy! We love these greens cooked in some nice fat with a bit of vinegar to help cool the heat. We prefer to grow this variety in the fall as we’ve found it’s been quick to bolt in the spring in our area.
Thanks to Working Food Gainesville for introducing us to this wonderful variety!
