HEIRLOOM. Maxibel produces the classic slender and delicate French green beans known as haricots verts or filet beans in the world of gourmet cooking. An abundant, concentrated set of stringless, 6- to 7-inch beans grow on 2-foot tall bush-type plants. Haricots verts are traditionally prepared simply by sauteing in butter and olive oil, with garlic or shallots and a squeeze of lemon. Make them a little fancier by adding toasted almond slices and fresh herbs. Maxibel is many gardeners’ and chefs’ favorite bean variety for good reason!
