Description
Rudbeckia hirta
The Gloriosa Daisy is not a true daisy, but has daisy-like flowers. It is in fact of the same species as Black-Eyed Susans. 3′ tall plants produce large colorful blooms. Flowers are burnt red in the center and golden orange-yellow towards the tips. Easy to grow. Loves full sun but will tolerate partial shade. Heat and drought tolerant. A great cut flower, keeps well in floral arrangements. Biennial, but blooms in first year. Rudbeckia benefits from cold stratification. Typically grown for flowers. Perennial.
