Salvia sclarea
Large herb grows 3-5′ tall with gorgeous purple and white flowers. Makes a dramatic backdrop to any garden. Flowers are extremely aromatic and are used in cookery, medicinally, and in making wines.
Direct seed in early spring or transplant into the garden after all danger of frost has passed. Clary sage seeds benefit from cold stratification. It will need full sun and well-draining soil. Water well to ensure good germination. Once germinated, clary sage will need at least an inch of water per week. Typically grown for leaves and flowers. Perennial.
