Description
Daucus carota
Described as “stump-rooted” for their short but thick roots, this carrot is nonetheless a tender, sweet, deeply orange-colored delight. Performs well in heavier soils, sizes up early, easy to pull out of the ground with their strong tops, and stores well. It is also known for better heat tolerance than most carrots, making it a good choice for late spring plantings. “Shin” means new, and “Kuroda” is the name for a Chantenay-type carrot in this variety’s native Japan, where these carrots enjoy great popularity.
