Description
Cichorium intybus
HEIRLOOM. A fine deep-red, tight-balled radicchio from Verona, Italy. Gourmet quality, perfect for both the home gardener or market grower. Cool weather enhances flavor and deepens color.
Start seeds indoors four to six weeks before your frost date. Transplant into the garden in early spring or late summer. Fall grown heads will hold better than spring grown heads. Will need full sun and well-draining soil. Water well to ensure good germination. Once germinated, radicchio needs at least one inch of water per week. Harvest mature heads with a sharp knife. Biennial.
