Description
Corchorus olitorius
ORGANIC. A very important crop in Africa and the Middle East, eaten much like we use spinach. Molokhia LOVES heat, and we are excited to offer this delicious green as a healthy and nutritious summertime crop.
Direct seed or transplant into the garden after all danger of frost has passed. Molokhia will need full sun and prefers loamy soil but will do well in a wide range of conditions. Water well to ensure good germination. Once germinated, molokhia will need at least an inch of water per week. Annual.
Alternative spellings: Mulukhiyah, molokheyya, molokhia, molokha, or mulukhiyyah (Arabic: ملوخية mulūkhiyyah). Commonly known in English as jute, nalta jute, tossa jute, jute mallow or Jew’s mallow. Jute is also the name of a fiber made from plants in the genus Corchorus, and Molokhia (Corchorus olitorius) is the primary source of jute fiber. 70 days.

Very nicely packaged garden set with a large supply of seeds. Everything in the box appears to be a good quality. I cannot comment on the germination success rate of the seeds since they have not yet been planted.

I don’t know why but I was imaging a bag filled with seeds all mixed together, but oh, how I was wrong. These seeds are packaged individually and each bag of seeds has a QR code you can take a pic of and it’ll take you to a web page with ALL the info on each one; history or origin, uses throught history and ideal conditions for sowing, growing and harvesting.. Man, this brand blew me away and the price for the amount of seeds and variety is SO WORTH IT!! THANK YOU!!

Planted a couple of citrus trees and seeded a few handfuls of the zinnia seed mix in the trenches. It’s a bit too early for germination but we’ll see how it grows! I added a small topping of seed cover/potting soil on top of the aerated native soil. I appreciate the large-size bag (6 lbs) so that I can throw a few handfuls here and there in different beds and areas of the garden. Next I’ll try it in an area with better (amended) soil.
