Joe Pye Weed is a butterfly magnet! This first-year flowering perennial produces spectacular blooms in summer and early fall. Enormous 18” heads of fragrant, mauve blossoms attract swarms of pollinators and make long-lasting cut flowers for your table. Plants grow 5-7′ tall, but if you’d like to keep them shorter, cut back half the height in mid-June to encourage bushier regrowth. Note that Joe Pye Weed tends to emerge later in the spring, so don’t be discouraged if you sow your seeds in the fall and don’t see them growing first thing in the spring. Joe Pye Weed seeds benefit from cold stratified. Typically grown for flowers. Perennial.
