Description
Zea mays
HEIRLOOM. Jimmy Red corn is a rare American treasure. Once so rare it was only found on a few family farms, we are so happy to see it making an enthusiastic comeback on farms and in backyard gardens. Special for its very high brix (sugar content), it is uniquely sweet for a dent corn, and this made it very popular for making whiskey and moonshine back in the day. Today, we love it for delicious roasting ears, and its dried kernels ground for grits and polenta cannot be beat. SO tasty! Jimmy Red produces beautiful, deep red, 10-12” ears on 8-10’ tall plants.
