Description
Ocimum basilicum
This Mexican variety has a fantastic deep, spicy flavor that pairs well with both Latin and Asian dishes. Distinctive violet stems, with emerald green 2″ leaves. Smells heavenly! Try it Julienned with fresh fruit, or as a surprisingly refreshing tea. Average height is 18″.
Direct seed or transplant into the garden after all danger of frost has passed. Basil will need full sun and well-draining soil. Water well to ensure good germination. Once germinated, basil will need at least an inch of water per week. Typically grown for leaves and flowers. Annual.
